So the trip is 4 days away and its super real!
Getting ready for this trip has been an amazing learning experience. It has been a constant lesson in God's ability and willingness to provide. Every step of the way he has met the needs. When it was fund raising the money poured in, when it was patience the information didn't come yet(least fun lesson learned!), and when we needed a bus God was like hey I know some people who have a van! That's been pretty darn cool!
I have been blessed by the support of two different churches both in prayer and in finances. And its so encouraging to hear people say hey we are praying for you.
Im a little nervous. This is so far beyond anything I have done before that its not even funny. two years ago my idea of traveling was a trip to Branson and now my first plane ride is a short trip to AFRICA! Sometimes me and kids do not really get along that well so that's on my heart a little bit too. But above all I just have the anxious energy that I get before something big is about to happen. I am ready to go the anticipation is killing me!
Keep me in your prayers I will try and put up a blog while in Kenya and definitely some when I get back! Thank you for your support!

Letters are out!
Hey everyone!
Support Letters went out on Thursday! It feels great to have them sent. I am still working on another round of letters fro the people I missed in the first round. Also planning to speak at Emmanuel Free Methodist Church(my home church) in a couple of weeks on the 25th of April about raising support for the trip! The excitement has really started to build but so has the nervousness! Please keep me in your prayers!
I have started to look into getting all the shots and medicines I will need, it has definitely been a learning experience. It's amazing how difficult it is to get you shot records!
Thank you for the continued support I will keep you updated on the process and we things are at.
Much Love,
Derek

Welcome to the Journey!
Okay thats a cheesy title but I think it makes the point well! I am creating this blog so that you can help follow me on this journey that God has put me on. I know that God has called me to Kenya, so in reponse to that I have begun to prepare for an overseas trip physically, spiritually, and financially.
This blog is to help chronicle that passage and it will also be a source of information when I get back from Kenya. Before too long I am hoping to get some pictures of Gathiga on here so you guys can see where the team is headed.
I am hoping to send the first round of support letters out on Monday!
